Thinking of adding a harmon-kardon ipod system to the XJ. It uses a hard wired FM modulator, which I understand works pretty well.

What other options are there?

I know I could just use a cassette adapter, but then I have wires running all over the place which I don't care for.

 

ther than what you mentioned, no other options really.
Cassette adapter will have less static and you can hide the wires when not in use. FM modulation can be staticy.

 

Actually, it belongs to my son. He had it in his BMW 535 for about 6 months before replacing the whols system with an Alpine system that had an integrated I Pod. He bought the Harmon Kardon system after he disliked the I trip. The Harmon Kardon system works very well. Let me know, I can send photos and we can haggle over price.

My FM transmitter that plugs into the bottom port on my Ipod gets static and also severly limits the volume.

 

Unfortunatly I do not have a casette player Or I would do the same!

 

is it the Harman Kardon Drive and Play 1 or 2.

 

If you look in this forum for the pics of my VDP, the inside one shows the XM with cassette adapater. Doesnt look so bad.
