I had my key stolen out of my 1998 XJ8. No dealer for 130 miles, so had local locksmith order a key..."Overnight, will be here tomorrow." Tomorrow I call, so sorry, they shipped it ground, won't be here until Friday." On Friday I get a call, "They can't send the key without a copy of your title, registration & some ID." Wait...that key is supposed to be here. I was in Portland on business, so called, & yes, they had the right blank. Got there, & no, they won't cut it without a copy of my registration, which is now 200 miles away! Yesterday I had to be in Tacoma on business, I took my registration & the dealer in Fife cut me a new key...$130. Came home, had car towed today to repair shop, they programmed my key, as well as the remote I could never get to work! For $133 it was done & out the door. If you've followed any of my threads you will see what a journey that remote has taken me. But it works!! Now back to driving my favorite car!
