Hello, New member to the forum but this forum has helped my more than imaginable over the ownership of my XJR. I just completed a timing rebuild primary, secondary, the works. Now i have the knock sensors throwing codes. Any help would on this issue would be amazing!!.
Welcome SouthDak, glad to have you on the forums, a site requirement is to introduce yourself here please (it only takes a couple minutes)... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...-intro-must-5/
...we understand your having an issue and need answers, but to help us help you, can you please put your vehicle info in your signature so you don't need to repeat it each thread. User CP, top left task bar, ...the reason, different years have different motors and different knock sensors, etc. So saying its an XJR just tells us its supercharged is all. We need to know if you have the AJ26 or AJ27 motor, which used 2 different types of knock sensors depending on the production time for the switch over.
First Q's, ...is the car running? ...if so, do you have a code reader and if so, what are your codes? If you have a reader, have you cleared the codes and do they immediately return?
The knock sensors are very torque specific, if you over-torqued them you may have damaged them and need replacement now. Check that you didn't pinch the wires, creating a short. Check the connectors for a pin pushed out or broken.
There's a knock sensor thread I was looking for I can't find right now, but here's a couple just to review (note: its for the AJ27 motor)... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...rmance-179820/
