I am exhausted of all solutions about the low coolant light issue like squeezing the hose and paper clip jump start the sensor tricks.

I was told by the dealer that the only solution is the replace (a brand new) expansion tank .

is that it really?

I purchase a new sensor and there was not major leaking

You could also try jiggling the float inside the expansion tank to free it up.

There's been a lengthy discussion recently of this same topic on the XK8/XKR section.

After some serious digging we found the coolant sensor is available as a separate part (Jaguar Part No LNA-5740-AB). Same sensor fits the X308.

I found a UK source and there's US source in Post 14 on this thread:

Lot less $$ than a new Tank. It's very likely forum sponsors Nalley stock the sensor and can do a good deal.

Do you know if it is leaking, sensor stuck/bad or both. I had this with my BMW 740, it was both, the coolant gets low and the sensor would get stuck at the bottom. had to use a stick to free it.

Hi
Have you made sure that the coolant reserve tank is filled to the top? If I remember right that the low coolant warning comes on even if the goes down just a little bit.

I could confirm this one, the first day I got my XJR, in turns the warning Low Coolant message would come on. Pulled over let it cool and open the cap, it was full.

Started my commute again everything was find, until another sharp turn, Low Coolant message again. I found a Walmart and brought some coolant filled it to the top, never came on again.
