My fellow X308 enthusiasts. I am getting discouraged. The HVAC unit under the glovebox leaks water into my passenger footwell carpet. I suspect a clogged rubber drain hose. I went in search under the car- couldn’t see it. I looked at some photos online and tore out my passenger footwell right side kick panel. It crumbled in my hands like a potato chip. And- no sign of a drain hose. Can someone please tell me exactly where the A/C drainage hose tube is located?
And now I need an intact Sable colored plastic kick panel as well…
Thank you all. Jaguar kick panel made by the Lays Potato Chip company No sign of the rubber drain hose A/C unit from whence the drip emanates
Yes, very likely a blocked drainage hose. Not that it matters, but a couple of days ago I just unblocked that pipe on my old van by removing then pipe and blowing it out with a water pressure cleaner.
If I don't mix it up with the X-Type or S-Type, the X308 would have the drainage hose hidden behind the side panel of the centre console.
Well, at least my browser seems to think I am right: The AC drainage for the Jaguar X308 (1997–2003) consists of two vent pipes located behind the center console, accessible by pulling back the carpet on the passenger side (left side for RHD models).
These pipes exit the airbox through the transmission tunnel and drain onto the road, typically centrally near the catalytic converter under the car.
… the rubber hose is located on the driver side of the center console near the accelerator pedal. You have to pull the carpet away from the center console to reveal the black accordion hose…
I will try that tomorrow after I recover from attempting to abate my gloom with stout glasses of Laphroaig.
I noticed on my very similar 96 X300 the ducting outside the center plenum the open cell foam gap seals linking the outboard ducting was deteriorated to the point of the cold air leaking would condensate on the metal parts in the area to the point of them rusting
I pulled back the carpet on the transmission tunnel and removed and checked both rubber A/C drain tubes and both were free of obstruction. And what a delight to twist the grommet of the tube back onto the transmission tunnel. Silicone grease helped.
Are there any other drainage tubes or areas I should check for clogs? Are there places under the wiper blade fascia that runs along the base of the windshield?
what is causing the condensation to collect and drip onto my passenger footwell carpet?
