Sorry if this has been asked before (I did try a search!)

Some bright spark has managed to push my drivers door mirror forward (or similar) and although its still attatched (just) it has no sping tension pulling it into position ...has anyone got a diagram or description of how the assembly should be

Here is the JTIS instructions and illustrations for removing and installing 2001 XJ8 exterior door mirrors:

This PDF file has a good illustration of the spring mechanism inside the mirror housing. It also mentions the mirror inner retainer and the outer retainer in the installation instructions ("Engage the mirror inner retainer on the motor lug and press the mirror outer edge forward to engage the retainer").


Also the diagram that SuperSport has attached is from the Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog (JEPC). I made this PDF extraction that shows the part descriptions that goes along with number legend in the diagram:

There are a lot of used parts that SteveM is selling on this forum, but I copied the section of the thread that has the mirror information: "Right door mirror, black for 98-03 XJ8 XJR. In great condition.
