Lost keys solved without dealer programing
Long story but my wife lost my keys to my 2001 Vader pla. Closes dealer about 50 mile tow. My solution was to buy a tib key pick off ebay, then order two new key with aquired code, and last find a non running part car of same year ( it could have been a 2000 through 2003) in my case. I then swapped out the ecm under the hood , and the key trasponder under drivers dash and it started right up. Payed $509.00 with tax and title for the parts car. I have an offer for $250 for the parts car I also got a brand new spare and Jack kit ,and power antenna which I needed. Question is now what other parts should I strip before giving it to scrapper. It not worth saving allot of rust. It is a vanden pla so I am thinking some trim and seat backs for the trays

The front grills seem to sell on e-bay, and the side fender badges. The hood ornament. The trunk badges. The plastic engine covers. The center engine bay cover, (the long one over the coolant tank, they seem to be missing on some cars). They are all ebayable and easy to ship.
The center console lid if it is in good shape.
EDIT: Even the wheel center inserts if they are originals, they are over $300 bucks new.

Depending how actively you want to pursue the parts (for own safety stock or eBay sell), some are of the brittle plastics and you will be glad to have an other set at one time:
Exterior: Grill + inserts, front lights, all badges, tail lights, tail boot plinth, turning light units, side marker units, leaper, side mirrors (if folding), sunroof mechanism,
Interior: complete wood set, shift knob, driver seat potentiometers (if your memory does not work), rear sun blind, picnic tables, steering wheel, door speaker covers, radio headset, speakers, CD player, interior mirror, trunk lights, license plate lights, all control modules, all switches.
Misc: Jaguar specific fasteners, plugs, covers, etc.
You see, I should pick that spare car as empty as could be ... unfortunately you are so far away ....
Good luck.

Edit :
But yeah you should have no problem recouping your costs, or maybe even make a profit by parting out what has been mentioned above.

I found the same thing, different areas of the country seem to be staffed with different level of lock smith abilities. I was happy to find one that would cut the blank I bought off ebay. Fortunately I got out of the dealer for $45 (programming only) and they washed my cat!
Reminded me of Bill Murray's line in Stripes, "a $20 shine on a $3 pair of boots..." My old girl's clear coat is peeling in spots...
You could pull and save all the relays and fuses as well as the blocks they mount to. It won't take much space on the shelf and they can be handy to have even if it's just to swap & check if something stops functioning. I know a Ford mechanic that always had a fuel pump relay in his box for quick diagnostic work...

Your local locksmith can often solve these very problems quickly and at a fraction of the cost you had pay to a dealership and without the hassle of having to reprogram the devices on your own. While dealerships typically have specific hours of service, locksmiths are typically available on a 24/7 basis and have solutions at hand to get you back on the road quickly.

Like Eric says, try and get as many plugs relays and other little bits you think nothing of at the time but will no doubt want later. Put them in a box and store them.

You are right, genuine Jag centers are around $30 bucks each here. I wanted some genuine red ones and the only new ones I could find in red were around $300 for a set. I bought a set of aftermarket knockoffs for $15 a set. I have since seen genuine red ones for around $100 bucks a set.
