Tried hard boot to reset sunroof. no joy she still wont park. Then took on broken door check, replaced door panel and now have no passenger,or rear windows or mirrors at drivers door switches. Also do not have one touch to go up

Rua, if your car is like the X-Type, what you need to do is to do one window at a time and first roll the window all the way down manually (ie, holding the button down) until the window reaches the bottom, then hold the button for a few seconds more (normally about 3-4 seconds is more than enough). Next, hold the switch in the up position till the window reaches the fully closed position and then continue to hold the button in the closed position for a few more seconds. Repeat for each window and this should restore the auto up/down feature.

If you disconnected the driver's door switchpack with the battery connected, you will probably need to reboot again (or you have a faulty switchpack). The 99 XJ8 does NOT have one touch window UP (I KNOW I HAVE ONE). Disconnecting the Battery will NOT retime the sunroof control module, only physical retiming will work. Do a search and find all the TSBs I have posted lately for the sunroof faults.

Many thanks as always! Forgot to mention that I am also displaying "drivers door open" when it is closed.

Driver's door latch has a micro switch in it that fails. I don't think it is available as a separate part. Lots of things are NOT HAPPY when the door is reported NOT CLOSED.

THANKS AGAIN Motorcarman, I only have drivers window and memory settings at switchpack, no mirrors or other windows. and drivers door open indicator are all a result of removing the door panel to repair door check. The battery was connected. I will try a reboot. I have read all I could find on re-timing sunroof but am unclear on where the white dots are or how to line them up. As always I am most greateful for your shared knowledge and time!!

I have joy at drivers switchpack, and door open warning !! "Re-boot did it." Oh most helpful motorcarman. Would you suggest un hooking battery ground when computer controlled devices need to be unplugged, or re-boot afterward ?

You can do it either way but the suggested method is to disconnect the battery before unplugging electrical/electronic parts.

The sliding roof re-timing is easy if you follow the TSB.

Here are the 2 that will tell you all you need to know.
