Default MGP Caliper Covers for X308 XJR

Hi everybody.

I have searched and searched and cannot find an answer:

I'd like to know if anyone with an X308 XJR has fitted a set of MGP Caliper Covers to their car.

Jaguar - MGP Caliper Covers

I have read that some of the XK8 guys have been successful in fitting covers on their cars in model years NOT listed on the MGP site.

Being new to the Jaguar world, I am not at all sure of just how different an XJ8, XJR, XK8, and XKR calipers really are?

Are they all different?

I know about the R1 and Brembo options, and I don't have those.

I just really like how these caliper covers clean up the look of the car.

I like them so much that I just might make the trek down and have my car measured for as set if I have to. Just don't want to have to wait until next year, as my plate is pretty full this year.

Thanks for your help!

Default This is what...

...MGP caliper covers look like.

This pic was posted in the XK forum:

I want a set like this.

Red with the white JAGUAR lettering.

I'd skip the fake bolts though, like these Thunderbird covers:

Anyone know if the XJ and XJR calipers are the same?

Currently, my calipers are painted red, but I REALLY like the clean look of these covers.

Thanks for the subjective opinion on this topic.

That said, it doesn't help me with my original question regarding fitment.

I'm not taking a poll here.

I am trying to figure out how to get a set of these to fit my car.

I have done A TON of searching and have spoken with the owner of MGP, all to no avail.

I thought I might find someone here who might be able to provide ACTUAL information.

If it wasn't for the fact that it is 1200 miles away, I'd just go there and get it done myself.

If I cannot get any help on this, that is what I will do, next year.

Default Fwiw...

I have some more research and I believe that these caliper covers:

1997-1999 Jaguar XK8 - MGP Caliper Covers

Will in fact fit my 2001 XJR.

My car came with red painted calipers and I like the look.

Having a nice machined aluminum / powdercoated set will look nicer, and be a lot easier to clean than the stock calipers.

I know that this may not be everyone's cup of tea, but that's what makes the automotive enthusiast world interesting.

We may not all LIKE everything that we see on someone's elses pride and joy, but we can APPRECIATE the thought, planning, and the work involved in attaining one's particular "perfect car" that they have in their minds eye.

When I get home from Chicago, I am going to order up a set and I'll follow up here so at least this information will be here for anyone else who wants a set of these on their X308 XJR.

just in my opinion, I went for fake brembo cover for just 20 or less dollars which I had not problem with cover over the past 2 years or will do the full real brembo conversion.

MGP cover seems too much money for its value.

I have seen the fake Brembo covers, and they are not for me. Not knocking them, but I really think they look, well, fake in my opinion. But that's just my .02

I don't plan on any road racing my XJR or anything, so I don't think I'll ever need to upgrade the brakes to the Brembo option. They are nice and all, but I just don't have the need.

I do agree that the MGP covers are expensive, but I am okay with the price, considering the quality of the product.

I just happen to really like the clean shape and powdercoated look of the MGP calipers.

Hopefully I will be able to post some pics of my car with a set of these installed soon.

Yeah MGP doesn't seem to have a large list of Jaguar fitted caliper covers due to lack of development.

I took my x-type into the shop and got the development for mine (which they did not have either).

I actually work for MGP caliper covers. Let me know if I can do a little more research for you.

If need be I'll send you a raw, unfinished set to see if they fit. If they do, we'll go ahead and make some for you.

That would be AWESOME!

I have spoken to a knowledgeable Jaguar parts dealer and he says that the XJR shares the same calipers as the late 90's XKR's. He said they SHOULD fit, but cannot guarantee that they WILL fit.

I would love to have the opportunity to help MGP get some research done and update their website with another Jaguar model that their beautiful covers will fit.

I'll send you a PM.

Hi.

Yes, I got them back in 2013.

Here are the only pics that I have available to me at this time.

I had both the front and back engraved with "Jaguar".

They offered the leaper as well.

The Calipers on a non-Brembo XK8/XJ8 and XKR/XJR are pretty much the same. The different is the bracket that the caliper mounts to (and bolts to the upright) is 1/2" taller on the R's

KC, I do agree they seem not the best in their order handling and admin.
However, I spoke with their order handling lady (sorry, lost 2 years of emails, but she had a latino name), and she was super helpful that time.
Why not just call them?

I called the last time they sent the wrong order it was not fruitful, there's a guy on eBay whose super diligent in responding & his price is actually a tad bit cheaper than MGP for their own product. I'm likely going to give him a try. I mean I understand mistakes happen but they shouldn't happen back to back.
