Installed the direct intake today and to be honest felt more like the 49 dollar honda civic special. The main issues besides the heat shield being floppy doppy (I'm assuming not so much with the hood or bonnet closed) is it really feels as though it's missing a piece. The filter (which is different than what's pictured in their ad) they want direct clamped to the MAF. Not the biggest issue minus the fact it don't fit through the cutout in the heat shield also leaving the sensitive MAF not hard mounted and also just kinda there.
It's nice that there is an option for this vehicle (kinda) but it really needs a coupler or extension pipe from the MAF to the filter. The filter also doesn't sit ideal. Instructions were also fairly lacking but living my past life as a FoMoCo tech poor or lacking instructions doesn't fase me much.
All in all it's installed and seems to function and I'll probably be leaving it. Just an honest review for anyone who may find it helpful.
(I bent the filter slightly man handling the thing to try and get it mounted)
The air filter is not really a restriction, the intake tube is. Going to a larger 3.5'' pipe livens up the motor nicely; stock the intake tube has fairly high restriction. Lots of posts and pictures on the forum's

Makes it so you can hear it, nothing obnoxious. Much better higher rpm pulling, felt like I had added a pully. Pretty sure people have some before and after numbers form long ago.
This 3.5” carbon fiber tube is what I have on my car. It doesn’t look quite like waterdragons but close. I also used T bolt clamps instead of regular hose clamps.
is that a 3.5'' tube with a 90 degree 2'' mandrel bend + 30 degree coupler? Was not the biggest fan of the air box+cone filter I made on my 98; yours looks very good.

Let me go back and look at the order but that sounds right. I ordered the 30 and tube from silicone intakes. The 90 is a reducing 90 which is a bit hard to find and I had to cut it down to get hood to close, but overall pretty easy to do
