Default Mirror skins

I want to have the skins on my driver and passenger side mirrors repainted. It wierd how there is small road debris chips in them but nothing on the front of the car. Anyway I have a shop that I use that can paint them for me and I wanted to take them off and drop off. Can anyone tell me if you can take the painted piece off of the mirror and how to do it? I thought you could remove since they sell replacements on line.

Thanks for the info!

The back of the mirror has plastic pegs/pins that fit into barrel shaped metal retainers.
It's a press/friction system therefore you just have to leverage the cover off.
It's a very tight fit. Whne I did mine I chosse to first remove the glass and push the pegs instead of pulling them

They do come off and I think you start from the bottom by applying a little pressure (pinch) the top and bottom and it will pop off.
