More Speaker Questions
I will be doing slight upgrades on my sound system. I will order the surround repair kit for the "sub woofer". My question is do the 6.5 speakers in the door get full sound or is there a crossover to just send mids to them? I was looking at some Fosgates or Alpines that have the seperate tweeters. Just going to stay with the existing tweeters for now and use the 6.5 speakers in the doors. Should this work ok?
I have the Alpine Premium system.
Thanks.

I replaced my stock alpines with the new component alpines. made a huge difference in the highs and the mid to lows. the 6.5's are full range speakers but have a bass blocker on the tweeter in the handle on all four doors. do yourself the favor of replacing all of them. it will make more of a difference than you can imagine. the new tweeters in the component alpine set will need to be taken apart and glued to the mounting bracket in the handle. and I used the new bass blocker and put it down in the door near the 6.5 speaker as so it does not interfere with anything...good luck ...

The HK amp has built-in crossovers, and sends individual feeds to the mids and tweeters.
This means you can install component speakers without having to use the crossover that they come with.

Of course, if you had the Standard Stereo instead, you would use the single stereo feed to each door into the crossover, and then run wires to the components

As per the wiring diagram, yes, its the same.
Look at figure 16.2, you will see there are separate feeds for the front tweeters if you have the premium system.
It would pay to check whether there are any capacitors connected to the factory tweeters though. If there is something there, then the amp is likely putting out a full range signal, but if there's nothing, then it's a dedicated tweeter feed
