Washed today. Windexing rear window. Bumped high mount stop lamp and it snapped off. Then when I tried to reattach, the plastic pretty much disintegrated in my hands. I guess the trade off of having a no rust Jag that spent its whole life in South Florida is that the plastic is cooked.

 

I have the same problem with my parcel shelf stop lamp. I might just terminate the wires safely and remove it altogether.

 

The 3rd light is an absolute abysmal item that Jaguar didn't really think out at all. I was somewhat lucky when I rebuild mine, it broke in chunks, not little pieces and I was able to surgically insert and JB Weld plastic plates inside it, paint it and resurrect it. Surprising, JB Weld sands rather nicely and I found a rattle can of paint at HD that matched very well. I never saw that last crack until at night a few months later. I did this probably 8-10 yrs ago?

 

You can still buy the 3rd brake light assembly new.
