Default My XJR Redlines at 6000???

Been reading various things saying that the XJR redlines at 7000. However, mine redlines at only 6000??? It is a 1998 XJR...it certainly has a supercharger under the hood. However my tachometer shows thin red lines after the "6". So did someone swap out the cluster with something else previous to my owning the vehicle or??

On my normally aspirated XJ8, the red lines start at 6900; the engine certainly pulls to 7000 before changing up when I give it full wellie.

I wonder if it is different between the NA and Supercharged motors? I find it odd that my car shows a redline of 6000 and shifts at 6000 as well when its floored. Yet I read things saying the redline is supposed to be near 7000.

I'd like to know where you've read an XJR redlines at 7k - not likely max shift points are 5,900 WOT including the XKR. Why have Jaguar done this = torque and a supercharger means a lower max RPM, simple.

Came across a few different articles online that seemed to be copied from the 1998 release of the XJR. Also over on Mina's website under their intake description, they are claiming 7000 redline. I forgot which thread, but somewhere on this board even.

Alot of miss-information out there, XJR and XKR's have a red line around 6200. My Xjr shifts at 5900 just as SeanB stated. From the 1998 tech guide (i have one sitting on my desk)

Thank you for that. Mine shifts at about 6000 as well....thats what was so confusing to me. My cluster showed a 6000 redline, my car shifted at 6000, yet I read 7000. Makes sense now.
