Default Need some help with a test drive

I know that I probably shouldn't cross-post, but the Northeast forum seems like it moves pretty slow. If this is against the rules, please flag it so a Mod can delete it.

I'm just trying to find someone to do a test drive for me. The car in question is located out in NY. I live in Illinois, so it's not possible for me to do it myself.

I think I might have the found the right x308 for me.. Any help is appreciated!

A good move to come to the forum. What you need is a recommendation for a Jag mechanic to do a PPI. There must be an independent in that area that some one can reference.

I'm in nyc, Bronx is a short drive away (albeit with $9 in tolls, lol), but unlikely I'll have the time to test drive for you in the next week or so due to work related deadlines. Provide a link to the car listing and I'll see what I can do for you. I own a code reader too, so can uncover stuff the seller may not reveal.

One point of note, a car from the Bronx is going to be a "New York City car", like my vdp, nyc beats up the exterior of the car with lots of dings and bumper marks. Bronx has its parts, but the southern half is real tough on cars (used to be the worst neighborhood in nyc back in the 80's - Google "Bronx is burning") so if you're looking for something pristine, it's rare for anything parked on the streets of NYC for more than 2-3 months, nonetheless 14 years.

I ended up buying it It had a clean Carfax, and an excellent service history.

I know what you mean though about cars in large cities. This one has curb scrapes on both passenger side wheel trim rings. He was going to have it fixed for an additional $500, but I declined that. I will take care of that myself. It also has some minor scratches on the rear bumper. There are many pictures of the car from various angles, and I didn't see any dents.. The paint is like a mirror. But I wouldn't doubt that there are 1 or 2. The car spent most of it's life in other states, starting with Illinois. It was only in NY state for about 4 years. I have a feeling it was kept in a normal garage, and not parked out in the street. Whatever damage it received would have been from parking in front of stores, restaurants, etc.

I guess I will find out when it gets here..

Indeed It should be delivered next Friday or Saturday.. Can't wait

Whenever it ends up getting here, I will try to post up a picture

Interesting side note: This car was originally shipped to/owned in Illinois. So as I said to Convincor, it's like I am bringing it "home."

Default Congratulations!

"If" need be look for a paint-less dent repair in your area. These guys can do wonders for a few hundred bucks.
Looking thru pic I didn't see anything that stood out.
