Don't shut it off until it's hot. I've had this happen once and it was because I drove only 20' from the driveway into the garage. And I was able to get it started by cranking the ignition and rapidly pumping the gas pedal...

I had the same thing happen to me, I was claying the car in the garage and had to move it 3ft the engine was on about 20 seconds, after I had finished my nice work on the car, wanted to move it out the garage, and of course it would not start, flooded, so I held the accelerator to the floor and turned it over till it started about 30 seconds and it fired up, I quickly leaned that these engine don't like being switched on and off to quickly, especially when cold.

I had a (somewhat) similar problem with my "06 XK-8, and the shop is STILL trying to find the reason and the cure!

But the correct approach to overcoming a flooded 308 is to hold the pedal all the way to the stop and crank it until it cleans out and starts. Don't crank it for more than a few seconds each time, the starter will heat up if you crank too long.

But maybe a can of SEAFOAM and a cleaning of the bore and throttle might preclude a problem in the future. How old are the plugs?

Tried all of the above. Now they think it's the fuel pressure regulator.

NEW fuel pressure reg seems to have fixed the flooding (couldn't FIX the reg?), but now there's a strange ticking sound (from engine)?

Do you know where the regulator is?
