Default Newbie help please!!

Hello all!

I've just become the proud owner of a 90k 2002 xjr. It seems in really good nick in general. But! There is a clonking sound from the rear end passenger side over smallish bumps. I see the bump stops have gone and some more will be fitted asap. I want to replace the whole lot of the bushes front and back with powerflex and ideally I'd do it myself. Is this realistic? Is there anything else you would do whilst this job was being done?

Thanks!

James

Welcome to the forum. Add shock mounts and sway bar links to the list, and don't forget the sway bar bushings. Then inspect the ball joints and lube the half shaft grease fittings.

Just do a search for Rear Shock Mount and a lot of those threads have the diagrams for the removal, and the links for the step-by-step. Very doable as a DIY, if you have space to jack up the car, , some time, and a set of tools.

James,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

The standard Search tool for the forum is not particularly effective, so I would recommend using the Advanced Search function which you will find in the dropdown menu under the Tools tab at the top of this page. Google searches are also effective at returning links to relevant threads in this forum.

Here's the link for the New Member Area where you need to post an intro as RJ237 mentioned so we can learn something about you and your Jag and give you a proper welcome:

Cheers,

Don
