Default OBD Gremlin

Just finished chasing down and fixing an air leak that was throwing lean codes. Hooked up Foxwell OBD tool to clear. Message window under speedo reads: low brake fluid; ASC not available; gearbox fault; failsafe engine mode; and incorrect part fitted. Jag starts fine, goes into gear and moves. Foxwell shows P1638 CAN link ECM/INSTM circuit/network malfunction. Figured out if hookup scanner first and then turn key to run, it reappears again. If turn key to run and then plug in scanner, does not happen. This is weird because on this car and my others my habit is to always plug in scanner before turning key to on. So messages are gone and P1638 cleared, but if anyone has any ideas on this gremlin please comment.

Default

scanner is probably interrupting the CAN link and causing it to flag codes
