Default Is our abs control module the same as the Lincoln ls/s-type module?

Hey guys,

I have the abs/traction control/asc lights again. I know my unit is bad. I noticed that the Lincoln ls module from the same years looks identical to ours. I know it was used in the s-type. Would it work in the xj8?

Thanks

Brian

The S-Type module has different part numbers so I would guess NO for the Lincoln module.

Some of the XK8 and XJ8 ABS modules are identical but X200, X400, X350 are not compatible with X308/X100.

Wish that would be the case... I am not in need of one, but that doesn't mean I won't be in the future.

BTW Good to see you in these parts, in addition to the car lounge.

Until you have codes read, you don't know if the module is at fault. It could be sensor cables, or even just dirty sensors/ eluctor rings.

If the problem is the solder connection to the abs pump, you can fix that yourself or send it out for repair for under $100.

Thanks! I don't post here as often as I would like to, but I have to say this site has made jaguar ownership much more enjoyable.

Alright I'll have to take a look. I cleaned wheel sensors over the summer, but they could very well need a cleaning again. The lights went away so maybe it could be something else. I just figured if they were the same I'd buy one of the 40-60 dollar Lincoln ls modules and try it out.

Thanks!

Disconnect the battery, pull up on the connector at the ABS pump, repeat two or three times, then add some silicone bulb grease to the connector.

I have had similar trouble and it was corrosion causing increased resistance. I still have problems every six months or so, disconnect and reconnect the connector and the problem goes away again.

On my 2001 XJR the same error code kept appearing randomly. I rebuilt ABS Module. cleaned the wheel sensors and checked the continuity of all of the circuits from the ABS Module to the grounds and ECU. The error signal displayed in the Odometer Screen ended up being a fault that was being thrown as a result of installing new rear brake pads without clearing the Jaguar Error Codes ( Std. OBD Tool will not clear the Jaguar Codes). Once I connected to a Diagnostic Tool (MATCO Windows OS) that could read and clear the Jaguar Codes...the problem was solved and no more Error Displays. (Disconnecting the Battery or using a standard OBD tool will not clear the factory codes).

Thanks! That's a great point. I haven't cleared any codes with the proper tool so that might be worth trying. Currently the code is gone, but I'm sure it will be back in the future.

Default abs

Easy to fix as 90% of the time the Module has bad solder joints or you could send it to me for repair 100.00
