Default Overhead console drama,

So my simple task of upgrading my plane jane console w/ the snazzy wood unit hit a bump or 2. I clean the new unit replace bulbs etc. The right side map light bulb holders are bad, no big deal I'll just switch the light board from old to new right ?! Well the ribbon plug is much smaller on the wood version than mine, no problem I'll just switch the module out it's only 2 screws.

All's well every light, button's working so time to install. I go to turn the quarter turn screw in the sun glass holder & hear a pop, & hear what turns out to be it roll/slide into the headliner resting @ the far end near the window lol. I can tap that side & hear it move.

I surely hope that part is available somewhere as I don't want to have someone to take down my headliner just for this. I'm still puzzled @ the mounting design of these consoles lol.

Anyways maybe the grizzled veteran heads here no the part# &/or source. I'm sure the piece rolling around in my headliner will drive me nuts shortly there after as well.

Is it more than one piece the diagram here looks to be.

Edit :
So I know the same quarter turn retainer is used for the center engine trim cover so surely that receptacle has to be the same ?! I'd rather be missing that trim then my damn console lol.

Update :
So I removed the quarter turn screw & receiver from the engine bay & it clips in fine sideways now I just have to figure which fastener holds best the longer or the short lol.

I'm going to fashion together some sort of rake & try and pull it within reach. I can tap on the headliner & hear where it's sitting. I should've left it alone lol it was perfectly secured & working, but no I had to have the damn wood, the things we do for vanity I tell ya.

I managed to fish out plastic bits (that I could see though) using a piece of wire with double sided tape wound around one end of the wire. Perhaps you can try with this type of "lure". You probably have to make a number of tries, changing the double sided tape as it loses some of the stickiness on the way picking up dust and what not.

For now the engine trim socket is working lol. I used that & the longer turn stud used for the engine cover.

Insult to injury in the daylight I can now see the new console is lighter than my SDZ lol. But being my headliner is new & the guys that did that, did the sunroof trim ring a lighter color than the rest of the roof so it meshes in an accent way(or so I say until it draws my eye for not matching lol).

It was just a mess for such a trivial job lol.

The sunroof trim ring matches it perfectly lol.

Coventry West is a stand up company. I ordered cam plate part # BBC-9868 which all the Jag info says is the correct receptacle for the quarter turn stud fastener for the overhead console. Well it arrives & it will not fit the stud in any configuration. I then sent them the diagram attached here which shows a round-ish receptacle & washer BD461403. The washer doesn't fit the stud either,so there's some inaccurate "official" info. out there concerning parts. Well they're sending me the correct part from the diagram free & even admitted themselves they didn't know the part number as it varies w/ the X308s lol. I wish I remember how mine visually looked before all this, it's almost worth it to me to have someone pull my headlining down to retrieve my old part lol.

Meanwhile my console has been secured using the receptacle(KRH100003) from the engine bay that secures the middle trim/cover. Go figure.

Diagram

Part BBC-9868 which is labeled to fit but does not.

Hi KC, been watching your thread as I had the exact same problem. I managed to get a new Turn Stud and the Dished Washer (parts numbered 4 and 5). But I understand from Jaguar that part 6, the Cam Plate, is no longer available! Luckily, I found the Cam Plate that had come out, it was resting on the bracket where it fits into, right next to the cut-out.

When I picked the new parts up, I asked the Jaguar guy "why the Dished Washer"? Apparently the Turn Pin goes through the hole in the Console, then the Washer over the Turn Pin to prevent it falling out when turning it to remove the Console. Seemed obvious when I fitted it all back together! Mine was fairly easy to do, plenty of room in there as I don't have a sunroof.

I did find that the same Cam Plate off a Daimler is similar enough to work as well.

Hmm, my dished washer's opening is not big enough for the turn stud head to pass only way would be to come from the back side which is impossible to do while mounted. Such a curious engineering design lol. I have to take mine back down to change the light panel due to broken screw tabs so I will investigate again.

I'll likely regret taking it back down as the engine trim bulkhead mount ware is holding it perfectly lol.
