Mine already had the wood trim. What cars are not fitted that way?

 

My 98 XJR didn't have wood trim up there. I bought a wood trim piece on ebay from a Vanden Plas (I think), and had Madera Concepts re-veneer it it match the rest of my trim. Looks a lot nicer now.

 

I think the standard xj8 and the xjrs come with the plastic piece. My understanding is that only the Vanden Plas came with the wood from the factory, but perhaps it could be ordered on the other models.

One note is that the vanden plas headliner color is a little more tan than the gray in my xjr.
