Default Pivot pin bearing

While changing rear shocks i found some play in the rear hub pivot pin, also i feel this play on the road. I've purchased set of bearings and now that said set is here and i'm ready to go for it i'm wondering if i gonna need adjustable spacer too, I'm asking because i run into issues in the past while doing the same job on xj40, the whole thing was off by some 2mm, luckily i was able to shave the spacer neatly and it went in but i don't wish to repeat the story now.

Remove the bearings, races, spacer and shim(s). Install all the new bearings and spacer/shim(s) in the same order.

The shim(s) will usually stick to one of the bearing races and are often discarded leading to preload problems.

I'm attempting to do hub to arm "pivot" bearings there are no shims there only adjustable spacer which have to be changed for bigger/smaller if preload is off,
It is an easy job, i just don't want to find myself grinding spacer or worst waiting for arrival of the bigger one, so i'm asking those who did that job before if they remember having to do anything to preload there

Number 16 in the diagram is the shim or 'spacer'. I use the original and it always works for me.

The bearings are precision parts so the original tolerance is usually maintained. They don't make bearings with wildly different dimensions.
