Not a healthy sound at all..Would try first change plugs and gas filter.

I didn't know they made diesel Jaguars... Probably gets great gas milage?

I couldn't really understand the sound but if it sounds like diesel engine then you should check your timing.. mine was "klacking" when i bought it and after half a year chain skipped,... it klacks when the plastic peace of the secondary tensioner goes down, it still works ok but the vvt sprocket turns a little and the primary chain gets a bit loose so it klacks in to the chain guide... it might feel that the sound comes from the midlle of the engine but it's not...
