Since I still can't get a working JTIS install to play nicely, and searching the last half hour has gotten me nowhere, I thought I'd just ask the masses in case anyone recognizes this offhand. This plug has, obviously come in contact with something it shouldn't have, as you can tell. Just trying to figure out what it goes to!
It is not unusual to find a homeless connector on a Jaguar. They use only one wiring harness for the vehicle. If an option isn't installed or the particular vehicle doesn't have an accessory it is just left homeless and dangling. I wish they would have made a dummy end for the unwanted connectors. I would just tape it off good so that it doesn't make contact again and it should be fine.
Looks like you might have an AJ27 head on your AJ26 engine. (or AJ27 engine modified to fit the car?)
That might be a CMPS that was left installed to plug the hole to prevent oil leak but the AJ26 ONLY uses the 'B'bank (left) CMPS for engine management.

They actually did. My XJ has no VVT but the plugs are there. The plugs have a dummy end in them. The same in other places...
It actually does plug into the harness, so I just wasn't sure what it went to up under the intake side. The harness wires are pretty well melted away (hard to see in the picture), and I'll likely just splice directly to the harness with a disconnect sometime, just in case. As far as I know, it's all original, but I can't swear what might have been done when the car was in CA the first 100k of it's life. Just didn't want the wires to give up before I get to it and shut me down somewhere!
It looks very much like the connector for the right head camshaft position sensor (white and grey wires). As your engine appears to be supercharged, it does not actually use it. On my 1999 supercharged engine, the hole on the right head for the cam sensor is plugged with an aluminium dummy with an "ear" and a hole through it so it screws on in the same way as a real sensor.

Ah, that would make sense. I figured with as bad as it looked, there was certain to be something about to make it's presence known, but if it's going nowhere, that makes sense. I'll just keep it up out of the way and leave it be for the time being. Thanks all!
