Question PO442 code error

New user to the forum and new owner of a 2000 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas that I am hoping to get road worthy this summer.

I am getting a PO442 error when I used my "CodeKey" diagnostic probe to troubleshoot a startup issue. According to my research this is caused by a small leak in the emission evaporative system.
Any assistance in clearing this service engine code would be greatly appreciated.

Purge valve failures are pretty common and usually the issue. Consider replacing it. I paid $82.25 for one in your MY at the dealer parts counter.

Thank you for your reply. I will swing by my local jaguar dealer's parts dept tomorrow and hopefully this will eliminate this service diagnostic error.

Smile Transponder key re-programming fixed startup issue

Stevetech,

I just retrieved my Jaguar from my local Woburn, MA Jaguar dealership and they were able to get it started only after reprogramming the transponder ignition key.

Car is on the road with no "service engine" lights on the dashboard.

I appreciate the help.
