Well basically this is my question - is it possible to install X350 rear mirror into X308?

I'm asking because my original rear view mirror has leaked a few weeks ago and now I want to replace it (right now I have a non-dimming bubble at the top... common issue on XJ8 early models).

I have the possibility to buy a new rear view mirror from a X350 (year 2004) with compass and dimmer, but I'm not sure if the installation bracket is the same as well as the cables?!

 

I pursued this idea diligently in Dallas, TX a couple of years ago with both a Jag dealer and my trusted independent Jag mechanic. My old mirror was good, I just wanted to add a compass. CONSENSUS: No! Too many complicated wiring harness differences between X308 and X350.
Most practical suggestion from this Forum: Buy a hand-held GPS for about $100 bucks.

 

Well it seems that I'm going back to search X308 original mirror to replace mine Thanks for the advice Alvin.

 

Can anyone provide me wiring diagram for the mirrors of X350 and X308? A just want to check what differences do they have.

 

nope...i tried both an S type and the x350...both wont work...i did upgrade my side to dimming like the factory option jag had back then...and man i do love it
