2003 XJR (X308):
Currently, I know the rear drivers side switch is bad as I can manually play with the latch while the door is open, and make the int lights and THAT door's puddle light come on WHEN the door is closed. I do have a used latch assembly and will replace that once I confirm it's switch is good.

My question - will one bad switch cause all other door's puddle lights not to work?
I've WD40'd each door latch well and manually flipped the latches, but no lights.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from my very limited understanding, I think I remember reading in the theory of operation that each puddle light is controlled by each individual door module. I recently bought my 2000 xjr and have to chase down an issue with two different puddle lights. One thing that might help, is if you open the door, the dash info screen should say x door ajar. If you do get that, then it means the door switch is sending a signal to the body module I believe.

My first question would be have you checked the lights to see if they
are not burned out?

 

Thanks Raffi - Have not confirmed if the other doors are tripping the dash info alert - will confirm that.

Thanks Randy - As for working bulbs, I initially thought that for all of them, but then was able to to make the rear drivers side come on after playing with the switch.

I do have four new bulbs on the way, so will confirm that too (and eat crow if they come to life).
