Pulling trigger on XJR?
Thank you for the comment, Andrew. I am optimistic that the car will ride and drive nicely, otherwise I may not hand over the cashiers check! What a disappointing 11 hour ride home that would be.
I ordered a Mann fuel filter and a supercharger oil change kit. I am getting mixed information and wildly varying prices on the belts however. Could someone please provide links to the best choice for a new serpentine belt and supercharger belt? I have always been partial to Continental belts but I am open minded.
Also, I may need a new oatmeal third bake light assembly.
PS- I read that if the CATS system fails it defaults to the "firm" setting all the time. So, I guess if I notice a reduced ride quality that may be what has happened.
Also- I have to advise against Samsung tablets. I bought this one a year ago and it is very low quality. Short rant, sorry.

I am in Florida with cashiers check in hand. I test drove the car. I am not buying it. Very disappointed!
Anybody in South Florida have an XJR for sale? I head back to NC tomorrow. Must not have dark colored interior.

I like the one in NY, I considered that one. I would prefer not to have a black car though. The green one in Florida; I talked to him twice today. Super nice guy and I may go see it tonight. However, that one would need a paint job. He said the car is great except it needs to be re-painted. Plus, original tensioners.
I am checking out a couple more while I am here. I may buy one yet!
The one I came to see has not been mechanically maintained. There is also rust on the car and it shifts rough. There is just no substitute for checking out a car personally.

He said it needs paint?
His description in the ad says it's been painted??
"The car has just been painted and runs like a champ, come and drive it but do not waste my time with ridiculous offers. A/C ice cold, All scheduled maintenance, Mostly highway miles, Never seen snow, New paint, Non-smoker, Title in hand"
For $9800 it shouldn't need ANYTHING..

Yeah, I asked him about that. He said the place did a horrible job and the paint is crappy, to use his words. He said the place went out of business right after they finished his car. He was a little bitter about it, understandebly. He said many people may not care, but he could tell from talking with me that I would not be happy with it. Again, a very nice guy.
@ $9800 I'd keep looking.

I know you said you didn't want black but keep in mind it's actually "Anthracite".
This with somewhat low miles, CA car, 03, and the price...

I don't know how to be practical when it comes to what I want
Hell, I shipped a wrecked 100 across the country..
So a $7-800 flight and $1200 to ship I'd be looking at that car for $8k and offering $7k if it was what I wanted..LOL

So, I am looking at one this morning that has the "R" package. Can anyone tell me what that means? It has a fancy "R" on the trunk, a different design wheels and red calipers, that is what I noticed from the pictures anyway...
They are 8Jx18 front, 9Jx18 rear.
I got the same on my VDP.
Seems like standard disks, and just a red painted caliper to me.

X2. I'd be questioning if it is a R package car.
Side badges look to be from later models.
The CA car linked above has the R package brakes.
But no side badges..

That car was also not taken care of. My 2001 XJ8 is in ten times better condition than anything I have seen on this trip. Makes me appreciate my car. Mine drives better, rides better, looks better and smells better than any other used car I have seen.
Maybe I will just appreciate what I have and keep a larger budget set aside to take care of it.
