Default Rear fog lights

Hi,

I have the following problem: although the light of the rear fog lights switch on the dashboard is on, there isn't any light from the rear fogs. I checked the bulbs and they are fine. I couldn't find on the service manual which fuse is for the rear fog lights.

Please, does anybody know which fuse should I check? In the case it is fine, then what should I check?

Thank you in advance.

I am assuming that you have an XJ8 but do not know what year for that reason I am unable to give you the correct oneline wiring diagram for your car. Do you have an owner’s manual? It should show you the lineup on the fuses.
PS Put your car info in your signature

Hi , I just looked over my 2003 XJ8 fuse map. you should look in the truck / boot fuse box. Fuse F1 controls SLM ( reverse lights, Rear fog , interior mirror, stop)

Hi Gus
adroaxj8 is a 1999 XJ8 3.2 and VIN# is 867442. I found the information in one of adroaxj8 forum threads (Throttle Body part number).

Here is a copy of a page in the 2000 XJ8 PDF file of the Vehicle Care Manual - Luggage Compartment Fuse Box giving the fuse listing:

Information of fuse is the same as given by forum member 2003~XJ8 in post# 3 - Fuse# 1 lists Rear Fog Lamps

Hi
I do not know if you have the Driver's Handbook for your 1999 XJ8, so I am posting the Fog Lamps how to use page from the Handbook.

If you need the Handbooks, the 2000 XJ:

Driver's Handbook PDF file can be downloaded:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a..._handbook1-pdf

and Vehicle Care Handbook:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...e-handbook-pdf

Let me know if you want the wiring diagram for the rear foglamps.

Hi
I think the next step would be to check the wiring going into the fog lights (fog lamp per the Jaguar Wiring Guide PDF file).

Here is the download link to the 1999 XJ Wiring Guide:

jxj1999en.pdf

Do you have a multimeter to test the wiring and know to use it?

The wiring from the rear fog light switch on the dashboard to the rear fog light (lamp) seems first to go to Security and Locking Control Module (located below the trunk fusebox (Pin BT1-9 is the Rear Fog Lamp Supply - Wire color code is UW -Blue with white stripe) - See Fig. 09.4 (page 57) from the wiring guide & this JPEG file.

Name: 1999XJFogLampWiring1.jpg

Size: 52.4 KB

Then it looks like the Blue with White stripe (UB) wire goes into the RH Tail Lamp Unit - Fog Lamp - connector BT-50-5

and then exits thru connector BT50-1 with wire color code OB - Orange with Black stripe and goes into LH Tail Lamp Unit - Fog Lamp - connector BT51-7.

There is no need to test the ground for either LH or RH Tail Lamp Units because all of your other rear lights are working (?).

Hope this helps

Jim Lombardi

Could this be a bad switch?
