My side leapers and boot Jaguar and XJ8 emblems were very dull and cloudy. Tried the Mother's kit I used with great success on my 911 head lamps. The emblems are of a much softer material and the Mother's just made a sticky goo. Saw somewhere to use bug spray like Off. Worked very well, Not perfect because some of the discoloration is deep down. Then sprayed with some clear coat.
I had that issue with my 03 XJR and noticed that they were pretty gummy/sticky as well. I ended up masking around them and wet-sanding them with 800>1000>2000 grit and then polishing them out, they looked like brand new. Made a huge difference, could barely see the lettering when I first got the car, came out clear as day. Hope this helps someone.
My Xjr 100 rear emblem is dark and dull and I've been contemplating how to restore it vs. pay a dealer $220 for a new one! The Florida sun is hard on plastics! I'll carefully mask and sand...

Give it a shot, just be sure to lubricate when sanding. I used liquid spray detailer as lube and it worked out well. Used Meguiars 105/205 for the final compound & polish but any decent product should work just fine.

The last time I looked, I don’t even think the XJR 100 trunk emblem was available. I looked for a super V8 trunk emblem to replace mine but, NLA. Just because you find a part number and a suggested price doesn’t mean it’s available. One thing to look out for is after you’ve done sanding and buffing, it could fall off of the base. You may want to remove the emblem from the base itself and clean off the old adhesive and apply new adhesive. What I’m getting at is all the vibration of sanding, polishing and not to mention the age of our cars could disturb the oem adhesive and make it come loose.
Excellent observation addicted2boost. I checked with our local Jag dealer here in Tampa about a year ago and the xjr100 rear emblem could be special ordered from UK for around $220, but no mention of availability. I'll definitely seçure it with a clear adhesive...and save $200!
