In reasonable volume (300 is a full load in the machine) they cost about $5.00 each to build, a full set for an X300 front seat is 5 parts, so $25.00 a set of 5.
I do hope you add a reasonable margin for your time and effort. Eurospares wanted £325 (U$425) plus postage and handling for a substitute potentiometer on my car (not even OEM).
Are private messages available on this forum? e.g. via a friend request?

Thanks for your response
Cheers
Ian

Certainly would have an interest in a few of these parts, maybe 10 or so, most of my 355 customers will/have needed them. Please tell us if they might become available.

Default seat position potentiometer

I see from the dates on this thread it has been a long time since I first participated. But I'm pleased to report that I may have made some headway. I've attached a video (hopefully, I'm not completely conversant with these technologies) of the latest iteration of a repair component. I think I can make this available pretty soon for those interested. Once I'm sure it is reliable I'll put it on eBay. I've sent a trial set to a Ferrari 355 guy in Australia to try out. Its the same module, but on the 355 it is used to check seat position to enable operation of the convertible top.

Default x300 pot drive replacement

Well, I can't figure out how to attach the video, so here's a picture of the part. I should be able to make it available pretty soon. I'll put it on eBay.

For future repairs, it will be great if these parts are indeed available.
Great contribution to the x308 society!

My driver seat showed erratic behavior when we bought the car 6 yrs ago, then kind of completely stopped.
Last year, while I had the interior out, I opened up the seat, and 3 of the 5 ball receivers were indeed broken.

I did a 'repair' due to lack of other options, and it all works again, but I am not too sure it should work for a long time if often used (which is not the case for my car).

For anyone who wants to repair their memory function, buy these little suckers before your repair attempt.
It is doable, but a lot of work, and not something you want to do twice after a glue or solder attempt lets go after 3 months.

I'm interested in this part. I want to repair my potentiometers, but I haven't dug into it beyond this tutorial. Definitely a project on my list.

I'm waiting for feedback from Ian in Australia on the most recent design and the installation tool. As soon as I get a response I should be able to make them available. However if I can't make more before the end of this month, it will have to wait until the end of November because I'm moving my factory in November and the machine won't be available. I'll keep checking in here to gauge the interest.

Just to dust off this old thread. I guess you don't make these items any more.
Are you awilling to share the design files, so we can print our own parts.
Nowadays there are many options available to let 3rd parties print based on the right configuration files.

Niles was about to put these on eBay after successful tests a few months ago. I guess COVID delayed his plans. Hopefully he's listening. If no response, I'll send him an email.

What you really mean is that I need to dust myself off and get moving again. And I shall. The COVID thing has been a distraction and I have been quite busy trying to keep the business running, but I was also doing some work on the older Series 3 XJ6. I'll get back to this over the weekend.
I modified the design to make the part cleaner and a bit stronger and printed a couple dozen to test. I also decided that it is best to provide the parts with the spring installed because it can be tricky to get it on. The tool to snap the part on the gear works well so I'll probably make a kit of 5 of the parts with the tool. While the installation is generally a one time affair, I've been testing the parts by installing and removing many times.
So stand by. My chore this weekend will be to finish this project up and get these things out there. Sorry for the delay.

Please keep me in mind and let me know once you do start making these parts and the tool available! I'll be interested in a handful

...and on an unrelated rant, is it just me, or has this forum almost become unusable at times due to all the ads making the thread jump around and take forever to have the page "calm down"

Default potentiometer drive coupling....... at last....

Drive Coupling Kit
Okay. Finally got it together. This is what the kit will look like: 5 couplings and the assembly tool that keeps the bits co-axial when snapping the coupling over the gear ball. The final version of the part works well and I came up with a way to make the spring clips (still tedious, but not so bad).
I'll start with 25 kits on eBay by the end of the week and start a new thread on the X300, X308 and Ferrari 360 forums that conveys some of the information on this thread.
Thanks to Qavion for dusting me off and getting this done.

Excellent, please let us know when the eBay link is up so we can jump on it.

Does the kit have enough parts for the complete seat?

I wonder if these kits from Nils are still available somewhere?

The eBay advertisement is still up... at least for the Ferrari.
