Question Replacement Cylinder Pistons

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to find replacement pistons for my engine block rebuild and wanted to get some guidance. At the moment, I have a new block with a set off pistons from a 2005 XKR. The original 2002 XJR 4.0L Piston is visually different from the 4.2L Piston in the 2005 Jaguar XKR

Currently, I've got the block sent off to the machine shop to be completely re-done and feel like this is a good time to replace the pistons as well due to mileage and age. Modern replacement information seems to be pretty scarce. While I've been able to track down the part numbers, sourcing new Pistons and Rods have been pretty problematic.

Are there any new potential replacements any longer?

I'm actually going to be using the block from the 4.2 completely refreshed. But, wanted to see if there was any options for the pistons just due to them having unknown mileage.

id see if you can get custom forged pistons made. JE, ROSS, CP are potential options, but it won't be cheap.

Maybe Pavel @ Pretuning can help you with CP-Carillos. Mine, oversized 4.2 style, are via him - but almost 10y ago.

look here

I had a set of forged rods and pistons made by a company called DP Engineering in Europe. I think I am a bit over 4k for the set which seems pretty good compared to other places I looked. I was the first to order so it was a new set for them so the lead time was damn near a year but I think they have turn them much faster now that the engineering is done. A work of caution, I have not built my engine yet so I cannot speak to the assembled quality but they look great in the box!
