Retrofiting newer stereo?
DPK, Looks like you're going to have to take the plunge and see if it's possible. No one has chimed in after a few days. I was sure someone would have tried this mod but I was wrong.
You can pull your unit or a similar one and compare the plugs first and foremost. If the plugs are different, you'll have to figure out the use of each wire and if you can make it work.
Next check the fitting of the new unit in the old units area. From first glance it looks like an easy swap but nothing about these Jags are EASY as I'm learning lol
Good luck if you move forward, do a thorough write up, take plenty of pictures.

No, copper cables = X308 fiber optic data = X35X you would have to transplant a whole lot more that just the head...I've taken a look at both w/d's and it's chalk and cheese.
Hope this saves you the trouble

Sean B, thanks for the confirmation that it won't work. I didn't think about the fiber optics change with the newer model. I guess using an aftermarket head unit with navigation and a custom face plate will be the way to go.
