ride quality of 19" wheels compared to 20" wheels & other XKR questions..
I am thinking about buying a 2007 XKR & the 20" Centa wheels look great & fill out the wheel wells better, but i am concerned about the ride quality. Here in So Cal we have some of the worst roads in the U.S. & i dont want my fillings falling out of my teeth. Also replacing the 20" tires in the future will cost $$$$$ more than 19"s'..Has anyone driven a XKR w/ the 19" & then drove one w/ 20"? I dont know how they can get away w/ charging $5,000 for 1" larger diameter wheels.????.....The 2008 Portifino edition XKR is going to have Alcan brakes? Is this a larger caliper/rotor package? If they just added more pistons on the caliper that really wont add braking performance...What find of real world driving mileage can i expect? Thanks in advance for your answers.
For the price, I'd go with the 19's, but I've driven both and the difference is basically nil. I honestly didn't feel anything different, but then again I wasn't looking for a difference in ride quality. The 20's are really nice though...you must admit! If I had a money tree, I'd dish out the extra dough.
the brakes on the special edition are alcon brakesand are 6 piston in the front and 4 in the rear and the rotors are 5 mm smaller in diameter but made of a cast iron and are 45mm thick compared to 32mm . and the rotors are handed and are crescent groved. definitly will be a difference in braking quality.
no difference in ride qualityfor tires size..

If you could have a sunroof on the coupe, Id def be buying one in the future. I also considered the wheels options , for $5k id put that towards a nice set of custom racing wheels. if it was $1 or $2k for the upgrade thats reasonable like from the standard to the chrome. Also why buy rims the reg XK can have when you have the better XKR? Advnatages to aftermarket wheels: A) they are def more unique setting your car apart. B) you can put them on something else or sell them when you are done with the car C) you can sell the stock rims if you like. As far as mileage goes were you talking about gas, brake life, tire life?
