Robert the Bruce
This is completely off topic but I thought my forum friends on the east side of the pond may appreciate it. I've been on Ancestry.com because next year taking a trip to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick where my ancestors immigrated to from the Isle of Lewis in the early 1800s. Found my 4th great grandparents graves. After 5th GGP trail supported by documents (birth, marriage, census records) ended. On Ancestry it will also give hints from some other member's tree that are not supported with documentation. Took one of these hints and it went to Robert the Bruce being my 22nd GGF. Very excited. To check, started with Robert the Bruce and went down on official genealogy sites. Turns out the hint was bogus (no connection with that ancestor and Robert the Bruce). Thus, none of you owe me any fealty.

My mother's mother (my Granny) said that her family were descendants of the 'Black Douglas' clan that left Scotland for Canada a long time ago.
Never verified, just stories I heard.
She was born in Canada in 1905 but became a US citizen and moved to Texas.

If you go back about 20 generations (I think it is) we've got more ancestors than people have ever lived. Hence family trees intertwine and apparently every european is descended from Charlemagne to a greater or lesser degree.
