Default Save an x308 from the Wreckers, won't run.

I just bought a x308 and it won't run.

Throws up limp home mode and won't keep running.

Backfires out the intake manifold.

Any suggestion on where to start?

It sounds like a timing issue.

I would guess there are 2 sensors for timing and both must be bad?

Did they use the locking tool for setting the timing as a crankshaft holding tool?

It is known for the timing plate to distort and throw out the timing when this is done!

Chain was not done recently.

Did not hear any chain slapping.

I will check the chain but it could be electronic?

Does the chain issue cause a backfire in the Inlet manifold?

Sounds like a timing problem, which will cause backfiring -- plug fires when one or more intake valves are open.

Sure sounds like a jumped timing chain.

1. Check cam timing
2. check compression
3. report back findings
