I'd like to do some track days in the XJR. One little problem......at 6'4, I don't have room for me + helmet.

So, I'd like to get a VERY budget basic racing seat to bolt in on track days. That should put me at quite a bit lower inside the cockpit. I don't want to be switching out seats from the rails and stuff like that. I want something where I can just unbolt the whole seat assembly, unhook the wires, and bolt in a racing seat, then bolt in my regular seat after the track session.

Does anyone know if our bolt points are pretty standard? Are there any racing seats that might be a direct drop in? I'm looking to spend a very minimal amount of money.

Please let me know if you've got any info or pointers that I can try.

 

I DONT KNOW OF A DROP IN, BUT ANYONE THAT CAN DO ALITTLE FAB WORK CAN EASILY MAKE SOME BRACKETS, AND A PLATE TO BOLT A RACING SEAT INTO. THE JAG FLOOR MOUNTS ARE REALLY IDEALLY PLACED TO DO THIS IMO

 

Brutal is right, it should be plenty easy to replicate the seat pattern with some flat steel and angle steel, if you have a mig welder and some basic fab skills.

Or if you want it easy, I have the old seats and tracksfrom my XJR taht I'd be happy to donate if you are anywhere close to Austin, Texas.
