Hi omgimali,

A Jaguar dealer may be willing to give you a printout of the work done under warranty. You may also be surprised at how much information comes up if you enter your VIN at Carfax.com or one of the sites like Vincarhistory.com.

Cheers,

Don

Quite a bit on FordEtis home page

With the date it shows you may well have a Nikasil engine but why care at this stage? It clearly works!

What you probably do need to care about is the timing chain tensioners...

Thank you! I did the carfax but nothing came up as far as warranty. Would my dealer give me a email over the phone since my local dealer is 2 hours away...

The production date is 11/01 don't know the engine date tho, where could I find it. I know Nikasil doesn't matter any more but I would like to know what my car has.

The engine number is on the left side of the engine cylinder block, visible through the left wheel arch. With a flashlight, you should be able to see it without even jacking up the car, by lying on the ground and looking at the engine from behind the front wheel. Ramps would make it easier, and taking the wheel off would make it easier still.

From the interwebs :

Nikasil - Cut-off date/number :

The first steel-lined AJ-V8 came off the production line In the year 2000 on August 18th at 10.43am hence the engine number will read:

00 08 18 1043 or more precisely: 0008181043
