Here in Arizona there are many Jaguars for sale (I love it) and I came across one yesterday.

2000 VDP, one owner (though the guy selling it was the second owner) 80K miles, car and interior are perfect. Here is the interesting thing though. He claims the original owner ordered the car from Jaguar with the XJR engine and transmission. So its got a Superchargerd 4.0 and transmission.

Now here in AZ there is always an XJ with a bad engine for sale. This car looks JUST like one I called on about 2 months ago. Miles and condition are the same so im thinking this one for sale might be that car with a complete engine and trans swap.

Does anyone know if it was even possible to order that engine and trans combination ? I didnt think you could.... but I may be wrong.

 

I think what you're looking at is the "Super V8" model. XJR running gear with VDP trim. These are a bit rare and, to some, very desirable. But, anyhow, yes...it's a legitimate factory built model.

Get the VIN and take it to your local Jaguar dealership. They will be able to determine what the specs are for that specific vehicle.

 

Your right, 2000 was the first year of the Super V8 in the VDP. Guess I was wrong.
