Default Started XJR Brake Job Today - what is the torque?

03 XJR w/R1 Brembo.

Bought Eurospec 355mm discs and Mintex pads from Euro Parts Direct, by far the most affordable solution out there.

Separated front calipers which was messy. Had trouble getting rusted rotors off - used PB Blaster solvent and beat them senseless with a claw hammer and gave up until I remembered the neighbor's splitting axe with a blunt end. Oh yeah, THAT did the trick. But still, what a pain. Just changed the pads on the rear and cleaned things up a bit - easy.

I am annoyed that you have to disconnect the line between the front caliper halves to make room for removing the bottom bolt. And while doing the second one the nut started stripping! Had to leave it connected and scraped the nice painted line up with the wrench. Def not pretty.

I still have to torque the caliper to spec (what it that figure??) and fluid flush with my power bleeder. The fluid I found was called "DOT 3 and 4" is that okay for our brake system?

Again, what is the torque spec for the caliper bolts (between the halves)?

The spec is dot 4 -- I have not seen fluid that was for both 3 and 4. Interesting

The difference involves the boiling point - not sure what else.

Default Gave the wrong info

Disregard part of my process of splitting the calipers. My indy mechanic said that was a big no-no. Brake fluid goes everywhere and you ruin the finish of the calipers. There's also the risk of introducing crap into the system. There are two carrier bolts to remove from the back instead. I read somewhere on this forum to split the calipers... So for those following along, just remove the carrier bolts, knock the rotors off with a sledge hammer and call it a day!
Wish me luck in not having caliper problems!

Default Extract from JTIS - XJ with Brembo Brakes R&I

Here is a PDF file I created from the JTIS for 2003 XJ series with Brembo Brakes. This file gives each step with description, torque specs and illustrations:

I purchase this Jaguar JTIS on CD in May 2005 on Ebay for $9.99 plus $5.90 for s&h.
The JTIS software has a database with a search that starts with service manual model/year selection then you use the search menu using terms such as front brakes in the search box and checking off the Section box such as Removal and Installation. The results of the search gives you a list of document descriptions such Brake Disc Vehicles with Brembo Brakes. Click on the document name and it brings up the document with instructions, specs, and illustrations.
I tried to find the Ebayer (vicgarner2) on Ebay this evening without much luck.
The Ebay item was listed as Jaguar XJ12 XJ8 XJR XJS XK8 Repair Service Manual CD.
I found another Ebay item listed now with the same description by another seller.
Here is the website link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/XJ8-X...item3f024010c5
You should ask the seller if the item for sale is the same as the one I have described above (ask about it's navigation and search processes).

I bled the brakes this morning before heading to Petit le Mans. I did it the way it was pictured in the doc you attached and it removed the remaining air from the system. Massive stopping power to say the least. The car is great and I'm proud to own it! Thanks again.
