Steering rack compatibility X300<->X308?
Hi there,
My steering is nice and vague. Curves are cool but straight lines are like a pita...! The steering input shaft is well worn so I need a replacement.
Now, would an X300 rack fit? I know the mounting brackets are different, but is the rest the same? Reason I'm asking is a LHD rack is like hens teeth here... Loads of RHD but not one LHD. At least for the X308. Some parts pages say they are the same with the servotronic crud...
Can anyone shed some light?
Cheers
Damien

These guys in England say they can rebuild your rack if your willing to do that....

Have you checked for play in the intermediate steering shaft?
Also keep in mind that if you can't control your car, then it isn't safe to drive. Make other arrangements for transportation until you get your car repaired before something bad happens.

It def is the input. If you turn the inout shaft, you get about 5° of play before contacting any other part in tge rack. You can feel it 'hit' the teeth. It isn't that bad as it sounds but I'm not happy with it...
