Angry Strangest problem ever - bubble on the inner mirror

Today was one of those days... with absolutely and totally no luck I've been robbed, I've lost two important bids, I've even forgot my new mobile phone in another city

This was a little off-topic just to start with my problem... When I enter my jag to go home after the terrible working day I noticed that there is something wrong with my inner back-view mirror - there is some kind of "bubble" in it. The bubble-part is clear mirror without the dimmer shadow on it. It looks liquid because when I turn the mirror to one side it moves inside.

Any idea how to fix it or if it's even possible to fix it Maybe it's important to mention that today was extremely hot and sunny around here.

Not that strange... Happened to me a while ago, and I've seen many other posts with the same issues. I'm not sure if there was ever an official recall on rear view mirrors, but there used to be kits available to fix this issue. Now your only option is look on eBay for a replacement.

The mirror contains a special mix of chemicals, which is what makes it react to the bright lights of a following car. These can sometimes fail and in the worst cases the units can leak the chemicals out onto the ski slope which can do a lot of damage to both the J Gate and wood veneer.

If you search the forum, there is a post about this issue in the XK8 section I think which gives details of where you can get replacement units. They come from a seller in the USA though, I'm not sure if this is a problem for you.

Hope This Helps.

Well I admit - I'm guilty - I didn't try to search about this topic on XK8 section Here is the original thread about this problem: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...acement-17719/

I'm bidding right now on ebay for a new mirror, because it's very difficult with the shipment from here to outside (as it's described in the mentioned thread).

I have a question - is the mirror on X300 and X308 the same?! To be sure I'll ask the seller for part number, but anyways - this information would be useful
