If I remember correctly the forward of the two sprockets has a center-punch "timing mark" on it. This indicates that it is the forward of the two sprockets, and this center-punch mark should to the front and visible to the assembler. The rear sprocket does not have a center-punch "timing mark" and should be fitted behind the front sprocket, closest to the crankshaft journals, in an offset condition ensuring that the teeth of the forward and rear sprockets are offset. If the teeth are not offset, simply remove the rear sprocket and flip it over.
