Default Successful windshield wiper repair

I thought I'd add this to the already voluminous info regarding windshield wiper gremlins.

The wipers on my 39.000 mile '02 XJR suddenly decided to operate only on the high speed setting and would not automatically return to "park". Before reading the files on this web site I erroneously concluded it had to be a faulty column switch and purchased a used one off Ebay. As I was looking for procedures for removing the switch, I came across a recurring recommendation to remedy the issue. SWAP THE TWO RELAYS at the left, forward corner of the engine compartment. Sure enough, the wiper function returned to normal. I suspect that the internals of the relays are fine, and that the issue is with corrosion around the pins. Regardless, I'll be replacing them and keeping the old ones around as spares.

Many thanks to this forum, and to those who have taken the time to post their personal experiences with these very complicated vehicles. (Anyone want to buy a spare column switch?)

Sounds like a successful event and now it's time for some good food and eye candy at Bone Daddy's in Grapevine.

I remember when Grapevine was so small, you barely knew it was there when going north
on Loop 12 from Irving. The last time I flew into DFW the change was startling. I barely knew
how to navigate, the streets had changed so much.
