With the sun burnt paint...which means it was probably stored outside (even in a carport)...thus the interior will have some dryrot issues (like the defrost vents). That fender/door damage should seriously be considered and the fact the outside looks fabulously cleaned up, but yet they didn't touch the engine compartment, kind of throws a red flag IMHO. I wouldn't go much if any above $1750...Cali price...but I'd feel better at $1300. Also, who knows if the tensioners have been done?

A shame, because a Supercharged 308 VDP is certainly desirable.

What with the paintwork, general overall outdoor exposure, and fairly obvious mechanical neglect, I can't see how it can be more than an exciting cheap car for someone willing to overlook the condition issues and just drive it as is. A good $1,200-$1,500 car for someone who can tinker with it.

Can be brought up to snuff w/ a decent "toy fund" as I like to call it lol. Seen worse conditioned less rare/desirable models w/ higher miles go for $2,500ish. Not a firm believer in the dirty engine bay = neglect mind state here, as mine is rather rough, but everything's been sorted lol.

Love the engine, love the rear badge, but nothing much else ...
But what a price ... I paid about 7-fold of that for mine here in Taiwan 5 years ago

Looking from the positive side:

1. The body exterior can be made beautiful with a respray (and fixing the small dents/scratches)
2. One owner car
3. All original documents available, including two fobs/keys
4. The interior looks very good (if not excellent) to me
5. The radiator grill (~USD 1,300) looks excellent (I know the price because I recently bought one for my Super V8)
6. No Nikasil and should have the latest (3rd generation) timing chain tensioners
6. The engine compartment is dusty but not messy; this is a good sign - it means it has not been washed (or power washed) so the wiring connectors are not corroded
7. It appears to have all stickers (and in good condition) in the engine compartment. And the shock mount plastic covers are still there!

I think it will fetch ~ 3,000 (if not more) unless the potential buyer finds something very wrong when test driving the car.

I can also be very negative: "The plastic pin holding the centre engine cover is missing - this car is scrap" (just joking).

I tend to disagree a bit.
In my experience, judging ~20 year old cars is to value the things which are not good.
If an interior is dirty, it might say something about the owner, his attitude towards the car, and how he took care of her (or didn't).
Same for a dirty engine bay and the sun burnt paint.
You can't get all on such cars, and everything is fixable, but this one should not be high on my list.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the cleanliness of that engine bay. I tend to go the other way, an engine bay that shows recent signs of being power washed and spit-shined throws up a big red flag. Give me a good, honest well-maintained engine over a just cleaned but poorly maintained engine any day of the week.

All my engines are clean, they are dry (no fluid leeks) and are strictly maintained to include my company van with over 200k on it. I do not like a dirty bay, to me it shows lack of attention to detail and perhaps a lack of maintenance...but like the other comments here, that is a personal thing. It doesn't have to be spotless, but it best not look like it went down a country dirt road for years. After all, this is a saloon, not some Dodge Dart or Chevy Cruz...albeit she is an older teenager.

I'd buy that thing for the badge and engine all day.

Especially the badge, that's a gem.

Not sure that sinking an appropriate amount of money into it to bring it up to "collectible/desirable" condition would be worth it, but it sure makes a cool car for $2,600 bucks if it proves to be reliable enough as a driver without too much attention.
