Thanks to all who contribute! Bought an XJ8 after learning here.
Just a quick note to say thank you to all who contribute to this forum. The knowledge base here is incredible.
I searched here for hours for info on what to look for when buying an XJ8. I compiled a list of things to look for and went shopping.
While inspecting the cars I would refer back to the list and make notes. I then would use the notes when it came down to negotiation.
Today I negotiated the purchase of a 1999 XJ8 that's black with a tan interior. It needs some minor work but at least I know what I'm getting into.
Thanks again!

I'll post some pics over in the new menber area when I get it cleaned up. Right now she's kinda dirty. (that was factored in to the price)
I do plan to put together my list in a printable PDF to "give back" to the community.
I believe it was pretty comprehensive. The inspection took 1.5 hours plus about 1/2 hour for a test drive. That did not include the time to pre-research the VIN.
Overall, being armed with the knowledge saved me $1200 off the ask price.
Thanks again!
