Default Thinking of selling mint 2003 XJR 46,000 miles

anthracite , black interior new Pirelli tires , Brembo rotors with Akami pads... new ABS module (see pictures)
documented service records. This car runs like a clock and is scary fast. Car is in indoor storage from Nov till April.
I've owned it since 2013 and drive it only about 1000 miles a summer .
I recently lost my wife and my interest in everything is gone. I have no idea what a superb example like this car is worth. Can anyone give me some idea of what it should sell for ?
Thanks for replies
Ron

$20K plus easy I'd say. Maybe $25k if you're willing to sit on it a while.

So sorry to hear about your circumstances, wish you luck. I'd say its an $18k car if you sell on Bringatrailer. If elsewhere it may sit for a bit but you can probably still get close. Look at closed listings on Ebay/BAT for reference. Here are some recent results from BAT:

2001 32k Black on Black ($18k) - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-jaguar-xjr-18/

2002 33k Blue on Black ($20k) - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-jaguar-xjr-18/

2001 28k Black on Black ($25k) - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-jaguar-xjr-17/

Depends on how long you want to sit on it. Only really low mileage cars bring big $ (like the 4,400 mile XKR that sold for $40k+ on BAT), others need to be priced right to move. If you really want to move it price it right and it should sell. If you have a bit if time I'd go with BAT, but I think they have quite the waiting list at the moment.

Best of luck.

@Ronco1, if you choose to sell, I would also recommend using bringatrailer to try to get top dollar for minimal hassle. I recently sold a car there and it was a good experience. They love to list low mileage cars like yours and you can set your own reserve price. My car had 6,000 views in a week, which is a lot of exposure compared to ebay, craigslist, facebook, etc., and it brought several thousand over reserve. Your 2003 model in that color combo should get a ton of attention. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

Agree 100%, you will get more on BAT than anywhere else. I've never used it to sell but glad to hear you had a good experience. And yes, a 2003 in that color combo should bring top money for the mileage.

There are some crazy prices on BAT, definitely a place to sell but not so much to buy. I bought my 98 XJR in June with 66k in the same color combo locally for $8700, would probably go for $13-15k on BAT. Bought my 06 XJ8L in Spetember from the original owner with 41k for $8k. I see x350s with that mileage going in the teens on BAT. Crazy what people pay on there, absolutely an inflated market in that little bubble. Same cars will sit on Ebay/Facebook/Craiglist for months without any action and when it goes on BAT its like a feeding frenzy!

I just noticed there is a 43k mile 2002 XJR 100 model in Anthracite Charcoal on BAT now with the auction ending in a few hours. I'm not well versed on the differences between the 100 and regular XJR models.

The XJR 100 is a different beast, very limited edition car that goes for a lot more than a regular XJR. You can go through sold listings and see what 100s have sold for and its typically a lot more as they are very desireable and hard to find. In short, I would not compare XJR100 values to XJR values, apples to oranges as they say.

yes...that one is not going for nearly what it is worth, however people are holding on to
their money a little more now than before...so the market may be harder just now.

True - The car market is starting to take a dip and it will be even worse for the next couple years I suspect. If you really want to sell do it now, I fear the longer you wait the worse it will get...I sold a few toys over the past 2 months knowing this and very happy I unloaded them when I did.

Truly sorry for your loss.

Agree, the market is really taking a dive, some nught say a correction.. A lot of high paid tech workers have lost their jobs, interest rates are soaring, etc. That last XJR 100 topped out at $22k on BAT, a few months ago it probably woukd have seen $30k plus.

Depends on how quickly you want / need to sell. Right now, $18,500 seems market correct. Unfortunately, i uspect things will get worse before they get better. I somewhat regret not selling mine when things were at a peak.

BAT will pressure you to do a no reserve auction. if you have a price in mind, i would first try selling here. If no bites, then try BAT.

Yes, forgot to mention that. While I haven't sold on BAT, I have heard from a few that they will really pressure for the No Reserve Auction. I think at this time in particular that would be a very bad idea. They will say they can get it live within 1-2 weeks at no reserve, but with a reserve it will take 4-6 weeks to get it listed...

Try to list on Cars.com Its free and I've actually sold my last few cars there with no issue. Got exactly what I was asking too. Buyers didnt even try to negotiate, just handed me the cash and drove away. It's definitely better than the typical FB/CL buyer, Facebook Marketplace especially can be brutal.
