Throttle Body issues
Hey guys - question. i have a 98 xj8 with original throttle body. I am guesing becuase there is no sticker on the throttle body like I have read should be there if it was replaced by the recall. My question - can the originals be rebuilt or is it better to find one that is a recall replacement, purchase it and use it. I have rough idle and restricted performance. I unplugged the TPS and it went away, but came back again same day. I'm going to get some electrical contact cleaner and try to clean the contacts and see if it will help it. Any help is appreciated.

i have traced it down to a bad coil pack. It was running rough, so I started unplugging and replugging until I got to the one that didnt make the car run worse. I tried it on the same one several times and I'm thinking that it needs replacing.
Under normal conditions I would have asked if you had codes I did not this time because I THOUGHT you had already pulled them and that was why you asked about the TB. To answer your question yes the TB can be rebuilt and I have that info on my page. Go out and get a code reader or barrow one you WILL need it again.
