Default Tire Recommendations?

1998
XJ8
Needs front tires. Not looking to go radical, but something close to stock and not incredibly expensive.

Recommendations?

I just replaced my Pirelli's on my 2002 XJR with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I liked the tread wear rating compared to comparable priced tires and I have had extremely good performance from Michelin for years on all my vehicles. Very quiet and I think they were only like $220 from Tire Rack.

I just installed a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS and I am very happy. They have top ratings from Tire Rack.

I have a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 (German) on my 02 R -- I like them a lot -- especially good in the rain -- strictly summer. I have them on another car as well. The OE tires are very good -- obviously since they are special to the car -- but they don't last very long. I'm not a fan of Michelin tires in wet weather -- don't like them.

I chose the Continental Extreme Contact DWS simply for the UTQG rating of 540. Tired of 20k mile tires and they were significantly less than the Michelin/Pirelli's.

I run Michelin Pilot sport 2's, but looking at the new Pirelli's, these cars like an asymetric tyre design, stops the tramlining. Heard good things about Kumho. You get what you pay for with boots.
