Transco Mod
hi, hoping someone can help?
Does anyone have any notes/instructions for fitting the Transco gearbox modification please?
Not seen much information on this. I managed to find the device upgrade but when I received it (here in the UK) there wasn’t any information on fitting that came with it.
Obviously, I don’t want to mess up the installation so if anyone can help I would be very grateful.
many thanks…
Paul

See this thread so you don’t make the same mistake

Other common mistakes are filling red atf or setting level with engine off.
Generally if you do it as preventive maintenance just drop this particular block, replace valve and fit it back, if you are trying to fix some problem i would drop everything and inspect upper body for cracks, maybe even take all apart clean and put back with new intermediate sheet gasket
Fill the box through upper cooler pipe at radiator, with some more fluid than you drained, then drain excess at correct temperature, it makes life waaay easier

I had the Transgo valve fitted back in 2017 and it gave me piece of mind, however it was done by a garage specialising in transmission work as I didn’t want to get involved with it. The gearbox performed well after the work was carried out and I drove the car many miles around the UK and Europe.
It’s the fill process which is an absolute nightmare to contend with, realistically it’s a two person job using a proper lifting ramp and those two people need to be level headed. It’s easy to lose your head when you’re trying to force fluid into a fill port with a gap barely bigger than the width of your hand, then burning your hand on the exhaust pipe because the engine has to be run to do it. We found that putting soaking wet rags over the exhaust pipe will help avoid burns but the pipe does dry them out if you mess around too long.
